Starting at $1699, probably goes to $2000 with the good stuff, this baby is what I want NEED to continue living my life. My new goal in life is to save up for this beauty, after saving up for my Dad’s birthday gift, after saving up for rent, but definitely before paying off college.

Lies.

HAHAHAH!!!

the $1699 one:

intel core 2 duo (3.06Ghz) (crap)

ATI 4670 256mb (wtf Apple?)

3Gb DDR3 RAM (decent)

1tb hd (not impressive, but okay)

…so what are we paying for? the name…

(I threw some html in there so I could read your post easier.)
Good points, sort of. Well, horrible points, because you didn’t explain yourself, but I trust your nerdyness enough to know you’re probably right. You could build a computer that would work better and cost less, am I right? Well, I say do it (virtually, of course), show me what you got, and install Snow Leopard, The Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office onto it, and I guess that would be cool.

What I Need:

Large screen with high resolution (more than 17 inches).

Excellent graphics card.

Fast processor.

Lots of memory (I already have a TB external, but the more on the harddrive itself, the better).

OS Snow Leopard.

Adobe Suite

Throw in a wireless keyboard and mouse, and I’d be a happy clam.

Can you do that?

you would clearly be dealing with a desktop instead of a sleek mac, but I love the sight, sound, and glow of a powerful desktop hoss so for me thats not a drawback at all - for you it may be…let me put it this way…for $1031 this summer I built my desktop with a 23” widescreen lcd monitor that would outperform the upgraded $2000 mac…even with a larger monitor, wireless this and that -> I could probably put you together a desktop that will outperform the upgraded 27” imac for significantly less…Ill look into parts and compose a list for you.
